Sleeping

Many people with Lyme disease have trouble sleeping. They are very tired but cannot sleep, which causes them to be completely exhausted. As a building biologist I am frequently asked: “Why can’t I sleep if I’m so tired?”
Sleeping is a very active process. The previous day’s thoughts are archived and any damage that has been incurred is repaired while sleeping. This process takes an enormous amount of energy, so sleeping is an energy-rich process.

If someone is hormonally exhausted, he/she is missing the hormone melatonin to facilitate sleep. In addition, Lyme disease causes you to have a continuously high adrenalin content due to the pain and stress and to constantly be in fight-or-flight mode, which leads the adrenal glands and the hormonal system to become exhausted and makes it difficult to sleep due to a hormone deficit.
